Wallace Island An Idyllic Kayaking Destination in British Columbia

Posted on January 11, 2022 Wallace Island is a favourite of many cruisers, and it's easy to understand why, it's a great place to explore. The majority of the island is a Marine Park, with only a few remnants of private property from its past. Like many Gulf Islands, Wallace Island is rich with history that you don't necessarily realize.

Wallace Island is almost entirely a marine provincial park, offering hiking trails, camping and sheltered paddling. Sunset at Chivers Point Stumbling across Wallace Island while searching for kayak trip ideas, I was amazed to find such a beautiful place to be so reasonably accessible.

One of my favourite marine park anchorages is Conover Cove on Wallace Island. The island is 72 hectares in size and is located in the Trincomali Channel between Galiano Island and the northern tip of Saltspring Island. The Island consists of the Marine Park with two anchorages (Conover Cove and Princess Bay) and two private residences.
